Drawing a Day 80 - Dodgy Ass Unicorn

Celebrating first sale at studio 73 with two disconnected ovens and three jumpers - rock and roll!

First print sold at Studio 73 in only 24 hours of being there! Another unicorn gone off to a new home to spread some Bad Ass magic. :)

In the meantime I have acquired a gas leak, a spare oven in my living room and lost all heating and hot water - fail. I'm rocking the slightly grubby three jumper and 2 scarf look. Best keep drawing anteaters to stop my fingers from going blue.

I'm leaking confidence like a sieve at the moment. Don't know whats wrong with me but I'm definitely fighting the fear. Got a bit over tired this week, been pushing it too far. Need to realise that food and sleep are pretty key elements to productivity. Cleaned out my bank account on the weekend picking up a print I'd put into be framed before moving flats. It does look amazing - but not great for the purse strings.

On another note brussell sprouts are brilliant!!! Martian vegetables. No I definitely don't want to eat them but I am toying with drawing them.

I did ask if they put it in the fireplace with the intention of burning it but apparently it was a well recieved birthday gift. 

First bear flies the nest/drawer. Off to hang happily on friends wall :)

Bad Ass Unicorn

The Bad Ass Unicorn came about as I needed an image for the Print Workshops induction day in August before I could join as a member. My brother and his girlfriend had just moved flats and his girlfriend loves unicorns but only if they're suitably Bad Ass. Thus the Bad Ass Unicorn house warming print was born.    

Only fail along the way was choosing a super stubby workhorse for reference. Italian Stallion he was not. Didn't realise until he was scanned in and lined up that he was suffering from severe tankles. Easily solved with a touch of photoshop to elongate the legs - took me right back to my days attempting to photo assist on fashion shoots (not an advisable career choice if you've never tried to use a camera off automatic before.)

Original Line Drawing - with flat footed hooves - fixed these later.
